Dear Elliott County Primary School Families,
We are writing t o inform you that the Moonlight Companies has issued a recall of peaches due to a potentialcontamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This recall affects peaches recently distributed and may pose a
food safety concern.
Elliott County Primary School received peaches from this supplier, and were served as a part of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program on October 24, 2025. We were notified o f the recall today, October 30, 2025.
Any remaining affected product was immediately removed from our school kitchen and storage. Areas were
clean and sanitized. We take student safety very seriously and are acting out of an abundance of caution.

At this time, we have n o reports of illness associated with this product i n our school. However, Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious health issues, particularly in young children, pregnant individuals, older
adults, and those with weakened immune systems. If your child consumed peaches at school o n October 24th and develops any unusual symptoms-such as fever, nausea, diarrhea, headache, or muscle aches—please
contact your healthcare provider.
We will continue t o follow guidance from food safety authorities and monitor this situation closely. If you have questions o r concerns, please contact the board office at 606-738-8002 and speak t o Barbara Moore,
Child Nutrition Director, or Dolly Fannin, Superintendent.
