February 11, 2026
Dear Elliott County School Community,
This letter is to inform our families, staff, and community members of an amendment to the Elliott
County Schools 2025–2026 school calendar that the board approved on February 10, 2026 to
ensure we meet required instructional time due to weather related school closures.
The following calendar adjustments will be made:
• February 16, 2026 will now be an instructional day.
• March 30 through April 1, 2026 will now be instructional days.
April 2nd and April 3rd are still scheduled days off at this point. If more days are missed, the board
will revisit in March to determine if those days will need to be amended as instructional days.
The board also approved to extend the school day. Beginning February 16, 2026, the daily school
schedule will be extended by a total of 20 minutes to help recover lost instructional time.
• 5 minutes will be added to the start of the school day
• 15 minutes will be added to the end of the school day
Starting February 16, 2026, school hours will be:
Start Time: 7:50 a.m.
Dismissal Time: 3:15 p.m.
Please plan accordingly for transportation and after-school arrangements. We understand that
schedule changes can be challenging, and we appreciate your flexibility and continued support as
we work to provide the required instructional time for our students.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school office or the board of education.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Elliott County Schools.
Sincerely,
Dolly Fannin
Superintendent
Elliott County Schools
