The Elliott County Board of Education is proposing a general fund tax levy of 51.9 cents on real property and 51.9 cents on personal property, including 0.3 exonerations to recover prior year losses for both.

The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2026 was 52.6 cents on real property and 52.6 cents on personal property and produced actual revenue of $1,131,585.78. The proposed General Fund tax rate of 51.9 cents on real property and 51.9 cents on personal property (a 0.7 cent decrease), which includes exonerations, is expected to produce $1,164,138.47 at a 100% collection rate. Of this amount, $176,322.13 is from new and personal property.

The compensating tax for 2027 is 51.6 cents on real property and 51.6 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $1,157,409.34 at a 100% collection rate.

The proposed rate at a 100% collection rate would generate more revenue than received in the preceding year. The general areas to which revenue of $32,552.69 above 2026 revenue is to be allocated are as follows: Cost of collections, $1,300 and instruction, $31,252.69.
