Letter to Community regarding the recent loss of an Elliott County student

Dear Elliott County Schools Community,

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share news of the loss of one of our Elliott County Schools students. Our entire school community is grieving this heartbreaking loss.

During times such as these, it is difficult to find words that can adequately express the sorrow we feel. The loss of a young life affects not only family and close friends, but also classmates, teachers, staff, and our entire community. We extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the student's family and loved ones as they navigate this unimaginable time.

We recognize that grief affects each person differently, and students and staff may experience a wide range of emotions. Elliott County Schools will have counselors and additional support available for students and staff who may need someone to talk with or additional assistance during this difficult time.

As we come together as a school community, we ask that everyone continue to show compassion, kindness, and respect for the student's family and for one another. We also ask that the privacy of the family be respected during this time of grief.

Our Elliott County Schools family is strong, and in moments of heartbreak, we will lean on one another for comfort and support. Please keep the student's family, friends, classmates, and all those impacted by this loss in your thoughts and prayers.

With deepest sympathy,

Dolly Fannin

Superintendent
