🌟🔬 STAR Academy is officially in rotation! 🔬🌟 Mrs. Hopkins’ 7th-grade science students began their first STAR Academy module rotation, and there is a LOT of learning happening in one classroom! At any given time, students are working through 10 different areas of science and STEM. 🤯🧪⚙️ Students are currently exploring 🦠 Immunology, 🍎 Food Science, 💡 Lights & Lasers, 🌱 Eco Architecture, ⚙️ Simple Machines, 🔋 Energy, Power & Mechanics, 💥 Forces, 🔥 Heat & Energy, 🫀 Body Systems, and 🧴 Plastics & Polymers. Today, students suited up in lab coats, goggles, and other safety gear and got to work! 🥼🥽 From conducting investigations and using specialized equipment to building, testing, observing, and problem-solving, students are beginning to take real ownership of their learning. While they may tell you the computer portion of STAR Academy isn’t always their favorite 😂💻, the hands-on activities are definitely bringing science to life! These students did a wonderful job demonstrating that when they are given the opportunity and responsibility to take charge of their learning, they can rise to the challenge. ⭐👏 And this is only the beginning! Students will continue rotating through modules and building new skills and knowledge throughout the school year. 🚀🔬 📄 Parents and guardians: Parent Briefings for students’ current modules should have made their way home. Ask your 7th grader which module they are currently working on and what they’ve been learning! 🌟 10 modules 🧪 10 learning experiences happening at once 🧠 Students taking ownership of their learning 🚀 A whole year of hands-on science ahead!
