The Elliott County Board of Education met on Thursday March 18th and the decision was made to continue with Virtual and In Person Instruction for the remainder of the year. In person instruction will continue to occur on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays with Wednesdays being left for Virtual instruction only.
In order to better meet the needs of all students and more accurately keep track of attendance of in-person students all parents need to make a decision and let their child's school know on Monday if their child will be participating in person or virtually. At that point in person attendance will be tracked as any school year. The decision that is made will be the decision that will be followed for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. Thank you and we appreciate your assistance in making this virtual instruction or in-person instruction decision.

Meal pickups Wednesday Feb. 24th from 10:30 to 12:30 at the cafeteria door behind the high school .

Due to the threat of inclement weather, there will be no in-person instruction on Wednesday, February 10. All classes will follow the virtual schedule. Meal pickups will still be available behind the high school from 10:30 until 12:30.

A limited number of students will be returning to school each day next week. Some bus routes have been adjusted, so the bus may be at your home at a different time than last year. Students need to be visible at the bus stop, and they must wear a mask in order to ride a bus. Buses will load and unload grades 3-12 in front of the high school. No passenger vehicles are permitted in that area. Student drivers and parent drivers must use the new gym entrance. Maps showing student drop-off locations are posted on the district website. Drop offs at the primary school will take place in the loop at the library door.

Elliott County Schools staff received the first round of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine on February 18. This was an important step in being able to safely begin large scale in-person instruction. We are anxiously waiting for the second dose, and very grateful to Gateway Health Department for making this a reality.

Summary of Special Board Meeting
The Elliott County Board of Education met on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 to consider how to safely resume in-person instruction. After discussing the concerns expressed by various stakeholders, the Board voted to continue virtual instruction at least until school employees have received their second COVID vaccine, which should be around February 18th. The Board also instructed principals and teachers to work next week to schedule more structured, face-to-face, small group instruction beginning the week of February 8. Staff from each school will be reaching out to families to make arrangements for students to come in. Social distancing and masks will be strictly enforced during all interactions.

Any girl in grades 7-12 at Elliott County Middle or High School interested in trying out for High School softball. First official day for practice will be Monday February 22 . Must have an up to date physical to participate in tryouts. If interested in trying out please message myself, Mike Copley,Pam Hutchinson or Kenny Markwell.

Elliott County students will resume virtual instruction on Monday, January 4, 2021. Return to in person instruction will be dependent upon the color-coded COVID incidence rate map. A call will go out to notify families on the Friday prior to in person return. We hope you each have a safe and happy new year!

Reminder that meal pick-up will be tomorrow between 11:30am - 1:30pm behind the high school.

Due to the high number of COVID-19 cases in our community, there will be no in person classes during the week of November 16-20. Any student who is struggling with virtual assignments should call their school so that teachers can help them get caught up. We encourage everyone to follow all public health guidelines, including limiting travel, practicing social distancing, and wearing masks when in public.
