We are excited to share our first FRYSC report of the 2026-2027 school year!

Calling on all former EC Lions and Lady Lions for our 3rd annual alumni basketball game!

On Saturday, 11/07, the ECHS and ECMS boys' basketball programs are hosting an alumni game to raise money for the upcoming season. If you are a former EC basketball player and want to participate, please contact Abby Adkins (Lady Lions), or Larry Porter / Korbin Spencer (Lions).

This game is a great way to help us provide essential gear and cover tournament travel expenses for our players. The Lady Lions will tip off at 6:00 PM, followed directly by the Lions game at roughly 7:00 PM. We will also host a split-the-pot drawing at halftime of the Lions game, with 100% of the proceeds going straight to our basketball programs. Concessions available! Tickets for fan entry will be $5- children 12 and under are free.

Elliott County is a strong basketball community, and your support is what makes it all possible. We hope to see plenty of former players, family, and fans for a fantastic evening of fun!

Seniors and senior parents join us on October 19th in the high school library for a FAFSA workshop. Brandon Brown, KHEAA outreach counselor, will be here from 5:00 to 7:00 to help parents complete the FAFSA application.

Student athlete spotlight: Maryn Sturgill, class of 2030, has been named to the 2026 Kentucky Golf Coaches Association All-Region team- Region 12. This prestigious honor follows a successful season for the standout freshman. Maryn's accolades include EKC 3rd place, Class A State Qualifier (1st place finish at Class A Regionals), Mason Co. Invitational 3rd place, Regional Tournament 1st place individual and 3rd place overall- this is Maryn’s second consecutive trip to the first round of the Leachman-Buick-GMC State Tournament.

Students in Mrs. Whitt’s Business classes took a hands-on Tower Challenge that put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test! Working in teams, students were given limited supplies and challenged to build a free-standing structure that could successfully support an object. Along the way, they were given an unexpected twist that required them to adjust their plans and think quickly. Students practiced teamwork, communication, creativity, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making throughout the challenge. The activity showed students how businesses must work with limited resources, make a plan, work together, and adapt when unexpected changes happen. Just like in the business world, sometimes the original plan has to change in order to be successful!

Learning an important lesson in a hands-on way! Our middle and high school students took part in UNITE’s Drug Prevention on the Move program, where they learned how impaired driving can affect coordination, reaction time, and decision-making. We appreciate UNITE for sharing this meaningful experience with our students!

💙 UK King’s Daughters is hosting their annual flu immunization clinic for Elliott County students and staff on Friday, October 23rd!

This clinic is available to all students and staff in the Elliott County School District.

Please note a venue change: tonight’s matchup will take place in the Rick Mays Gymnasium (the high school gym).

Water's unique chemical makeup is the foundation for all living things. Cells are mostly made of water and chemical reactions inside living things need water to happen. So, on Friday, high school biology students learned about all the properties of water!

Digital Literacy Students in Mrs. Whitt’s Digital Literacy classes took learning off the screen with a hands-on Marble Maze Challenge! Students designed and built a marble maze to represent how information moves through a computer. As the marble traveled through the maze, students connected each part of its journey to the four main steps of a computer system: input, processing, storage, and output. Students had to plan their maze, build and test their design, solve problems, and make changes when something didn’t work. The activity helped students better understand how a computer receives information, processes it, stores it, and produces an output. This hands-on challenge combined technology, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving while bringing Digital Literacy concepts to life!
