Elliott County school district is excited to announce that Lady Lions Head Coach, Abby Adkins has officially been named as the new Athletic Director. Adkins, who is in her second year leading the Lady Lions has been acting interim director since mid-November. She will continue her duties as Head Coach, while taking on her new role as director of the district’s athletic programs.
Abby is a 2021 graduate of Elliott County High School, where she was a standout varsity basketball player and cross country runner, setting several school records during her tenure. She continued her athletic career as a Lady Bear at the University of Pikeville, and currently holds a Masters of Education degree in Secondary English.
Abby is looking forward to her new role, with plans to focus on current programs, as well as develop new ones that will lead Elliott County athletics to a successful future.

📣📣 We are excited to welcome Korbin Spencer as the new head coach of the Elliott County Varsity Basketball Lions. Korbin is a 2019 graduate of ECHS, a former University of Pikeville collegiate basketball player, and a standout player during his time on the court as a Lion. He brings with him expertise of the game from all levels and a passion for Elliott County Basketball. Congratulations, Coach Spencer!

We are thrilled to celebrate Elijah Faulkner for his incredible achievement of being named an Honorable Mention for the 2025 Boys' All-Area Golf Team!
Golf is a game of inches and extreme mental discipline, and Elijah has proven throughout this season that he has the focus and drive to compete with the very best. Earning a spot on the All-Area Honorable Mention list as a junior is a huge testament to his consistency and the hours he’s put in on the practice range. Congratulations, Elijah!

Class A Regional Runner-Up: 2nd Place Individual at Class A Regionals.
Class A State Qualifier: Competed at the Class A State Tournament—one of the first two girls in school history to compete at the Class A State Tournament.
Great job, Mia, on a fantastic season and this well-deserved recognition as an all-area honorable mention!

We are proud to announce that 8th grader Maryn Sturgill has been named to the Girls' All-Area Golf Team! This honor follows a historic 2025 season.
Season Highlights:
Class A Regional Champion: 1st Place Individual at Class A Regionals.
Class A State Qualifier: Competed at the Class A State Tournament—one of the first two girls in school history to compete at the Class A State Tournament.
Region 12 Success: Placed 7th individually at the KHSAA Region 12 Tournament.
Her Region 12 success qualified her for the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Girls' Golf State Championship, and she was the first girl to ever compete at this tournament for Elliott County!
