This week’s female athlete of the week is Maleigh McDaniel of Olive Hill Kentucky who is a Softball, Basketball, and Volleyball prospect from the class of 2021. Maleigh currently plays for Elliot County High School Lions (School Ball) & the Legacy Fast-Pitch Team (Travel Ball) where she is used as a pitcher as well as a utility player in which she can play every position on the field. Maleigh has played travel ball for 8 years, is currently a Varsity starter in Softball, Volleyball, and Basketball for the Elliott County Lady Lions. Some of Maleigh’s current accolades to date on the softball diamond include the following: being selected as an All-Area Honorable mention in 2016 and 2017 (as a 7th grader in 2016 and as an 8th grader in 2017), being selected to 16th Region All-Star Team in both 2016 and 2017, being selected to the All-Tournament Team in “Dog Days of Summer Tournament” in 2017, and has even recorded 3 no hitters so far in her career as a pitcher. Not only is Maleigh a great athlete she is also a terrific student as well. She currently has a 4.0 GPA, enjoys taking math courses, and is involved in the following clubs/programs: Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Band, and is a member of the Extended Talent search program through Morehead State. Maleigh has a goal of one day going to college to play softball and starting her path to becoming a Veterinarian because of her love with animals. Her high school coach describes her as always being competitive, driven, and motivated. She’s the type of athlete every coach dreams of having. Her travel ball coach adds on that she is a “competitor that plays with confidence and is always ready for a challenge. When the game is on the line, she is the player you want to go to for the win. She is very coachable; and is team oriented. She makes everyone around her better. She has a great attitude and is very respectful of others.” One thing is for sure is that Maleigh is an excellent athlete, student, and invidividual. As long as she continues to work hard and push towards her dreams and goals she will have an excellent opportunity to achieve her dream of playing at the collegiate level and furthering her education. http://recruitmeky.com/Athletes/Maleigh-McDaniel/
